Our Recipe Has Bacon!

This jalapeno poppers recipe mixes everything you would want in a single bite. First, there’s the heat from the peppers. Then, there’s the cream cheese to cool it all down. The only thing that would be missing is some more flavor and crunchiness. Luckily, we included bacon in the mix.

Bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers are a bit more salty and memorable for everyone who tries it. Of course, jalapenos remain the main attraction of this dish. Their spicy nature pairs perfectly with the cool cream cheese, and bacon gives the consumer that extra kick.

Ingredients

  • 10 larger jalapenos
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups Cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup green onions
  • 1/2 lbs bacon
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Jalapenos

You can’t do much without the main ingredient. Make sure you pick fresh jalapenos with a bright green color. If you can get your hands on some larger peppers, do that. They will be easier to handle while working on the recipe.

You’ll need to cut them in half and stuff them with the cream cheese mixture. If your company doesn’t handle heat very well, you can make the same recipe using baby bell pepper. They aren’t hot, so anyone can enjoy your cooking. For larger crowds, we suggest making both variations so everyone can have a bite.

Cheese Mixture

The base of this mixture is cream cheese. But we’ll add a few more things to the mix to make the dish extra tasty. A dash of garlic powder can make a bigger difference than you can imagine, so don’t skip that step! Also, green onions are a worthy addition. And finally, don’t forget the bacon.

We all know the value of bacon in any dish it’s included in, so there’s no point in explaining why you should absolutely have it in your stuffed jalapeno poppers.

Instructions

Even the best jalapeno poppers don’t require much cooking knowledge to prepare. So, even if you’re a beginner in the kitchen, you don’t have to worry about making this recipe a success.

Simply follow the instructions, and you’ll be satisfied with the result.

Step 1

Start by preheating the oven to 400 degrees F. Slice the jalapenos in half, but make sure to follow precise instructions. Always wear gloves and remove all the seeds with a spoon.

Step 2

Combine the rest of the ingredients in a large bowl.

Step 3

Use a spoon to stuff the jalapenos with the cream cheese mixture. Place the peppers on a baking sheet and leave them inside the oven for 20 minutes.

You’ll know the dish is finished when the peppers become tender.

Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers

To make this recipe a bit extra crunchy, you can turn our recipe into bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers.

Simply wrap the jalapenos into a slice of bacon and secure it with a toothpick. Make sure you’re using thin slices, so the bacon cooks to a crisp. The wrapping will be the last step in the preparation process, so you don’t have to change anything beforehand.

Remove the toothpicks before serving the poppers, and let your friends enjoy the bacony miracle.

How to Cut a Jalapeno?

The first rule, and one you should never forget when cutting jalapenos, is to always wear gloves. These peppers contain oil that can burn your hands, and not wearing gloves can result in large amounts of pain.

The heat in the jalapenos comes from the seeds and the membranes. So, make sure to clean the insides of each pepper to reduce the heat. Or, if you’re aiming for a hotter dish, leave some of the membranes intact.

But, before you come to this step, cut the pepper lengthwise and keep the stem looking fresh.

Tips for Making Stuffed Jalapeno PoppersHot Jalapeno Baked With Cheese and Sauce

There are a few things to keep in mind when making our famous jalapeno recipe. Remember these tips and ensure you always get the result you expect when making poppers.

  • Cook the bacon accordingly

In order to add bacon to the cheese mixture, you need to cook it first. Once it is nice and crispy, remove it from the pan and drain the grease. Chop it into pieces, and then it will be ready for the cream cheese.

  • Mix the cheese

The cheese mix we prepare doesn’t have to be the only one you use when making poppers. Give other options a chance and see if you prefer the recipe that way. And, if you’re really a cheese lover, add some extra on top and let it melt over the peppers.

  • Wear gloves

Wearing gloves is the one thing you can’t forget. Don’t burn your hands, and wear gloves when you cut jalapenos.

  • Think about the spice

As we mentioned, jalapenos have quite the kick to them. So, this recipe can be a bit too hot for some crowds. Control the spice level by removing the seeds, or if you really wish to avoid the heat, use a different type of pepper.

  • There are other options

Jalapeno poppers are quite a versatile dish. You can make it using an air fryer, a grill, or a stove. There are even recipes where you deep fry the peppers. Check out all of your options, and see which one you prefer.

Different Stuffings Worth Trying

Don’t limit yourself to one option. If jalapenos are what you love, try different versions of poppers before you decide on a favorite. These are some of the stuffing alternatives we love:

  • Cheese

Sub the cream cheese with mozzarella, Monterey Jack, or goat cheese. It will be quite a twist, but still a tasty dish.

  • Meat

Apart from wrapping the peppers in bacon, you can always add ground beef to the mix, as well as shredded chicken or crab meat.

  • Seasoning

Red pepper flakes can add more heat to the dish, as well as visually improve its appearance.
